Compressed Air Alliance’s Hot Tap Clamp is idea for use when a take off or socket needs to be added to the pipework while under pressure. Each set comes with a clamp and a ball valve.
The clamps are easy to install around the pipe and form a tight seal. They are suitable for pipe outer diameters (ODs) from 45 mm (1.8”) to 240 mm (9.4”). Other clamp size are available by special request.
The clamp shell, nuts and washers are made from 316 stainless steel. The gasket is made from Nitrile rubber.
Two ball valve options are available: 1/2” valve or 3/4” valve. (Note: the 1/2” ball valves also come with a reducing bush to fit the clamp). Other socket sizes are available by special request.

- 160 – 190 mm (6.3” – 7.5”)
- 190 – 220 mm (7.5” – 8.7”)
- 210 – 240 mm (8.3” – 9.4”)
Other ball valve sizes and clamps for other pipe diameters are available upon request.
Notes:
- The amount of pressure that a clamp will contain is proportionate to the diameter of the pipe being clamped and the amount of torque applied to the bolts. Smaller diameter clamps will apply a higher pressure to the pipe diameter than larger diameter clamps.
- Cleaning the pipework prior to application of the hot tap clamp will ensure a better seal.
- The pressure rating of the clamp is influenced by the pipe type, the pipe surface finish, damage to the pipe, environment, service conditions and installation workmanship.
- These clamps do not restrain axial pipe movement. Suitable anchorage must be provided where pipe movement may occur.
- Mechanical support should be used to support any take offs connected to the hot tap clamp.
Hot Tapping
Hot tapping is the process of manually installing a connection point on pressurized pipes. To hot tap into a pressurized pipe, you generally require:
- a hot tap drill
- tapping saddle / clamp, and a
- ball valve.
You can purchase the hot tap drill separately – see the Hot Tap Drill page.
Note: Hot tapping can be dangerous and should be performed by experienced technicians only. Care should be taken when using the hot tap drill and appropriate personal protection equipment should be worn.
